What are the requirements for using this service?
No registration is necessary to use this service.
▪ To use the online service you need a valid residence permit or visa. You can also use the online service if you do not need a visa to enter Germany.
▪ You cannot use the online service if you have a temporary suspension of deportation (Duldung) or residence authorisation (Aufenthaltsgestattung). In that case, please contact the Amt für Migration.

Worauf muss ich sonst noch achten?

What else should I be aware of?
The online service has three stages:
• Stage 1: We ask you about your current situation. Based on your answers, we identify the correct residence permit for you. At the end of this stage, we provide a list of documents that we need for your residence permit. Please get these documents ready to upload in stage 2.
• Stage 2: We ask you about your personal details. Then you upload all the documents. Your details and documents will then be sent to the agency that is dealing with your application.
▪ Stage 3: Once your case has been processed, you will receive an appointment from us without being asked.

How much does it cost?
The online service is free.
A residence permit costs around 100 Euros in fees.
There are also fees for residence permits for spouses, children or parents of German citizens.

How long will it take us to process your application? Several weeks. The duration mainly depends on how complete your upload of documents are.
